Urinary 8-Aminolaevulinic Acid
نویسنده
چکیده
Urinary &-aminolaevulinic acid (ALA) is commonly estimated by the method of Mauzerall and Granick (I956). In that method porphobilinogen (PBG) and ALA are successively separated from the urine by ion exchange resins. A simplified procedure, omitting the initial separation of PBG, was investigated. Urine samples from 39 lead workers and controls were estimated for ALA by both the original procedure and by this simplified procedure. A correlation coefficient of o099 was obtained. It was concluded that the simplified procedure may be used for screening lead workers so long as the possibility of false high readings is borne in mind. Some sources of variation in standardizing the original procedure are also discussed.

Effects of urinary volume on urinary concentrations of lead, delta-aminolaevulinic acid, coproporphyrin, creatinine, and total solutes.
Urinary volume was related to urinary concentrations of lead, delta-aminolaevulinic acid (ALA), coproporphyrin (COPRO), creatinine, and total solutes in nine lead workers. On a log scale, linear relationships were found between urinary volume and the urinary concentrations. There was a certain difference in the extent of the effects of urinary volume on the urinary concentrations. For example, ...
متن کاملUrinary Amino-acetone Excretion in Lead Workers.
Urinary amino-acetone concentrations were determined in a group of 51 persons with industrial exposure to lead and the findings compared with those obtained from a control group of 27 persons having no exposure to lead.A good correlation was found between delta-aminolaevulinic acid and amino-acetone excretion in the control group but this correlation was not so well defined in the lead-exposed ...

متن کاملRelation between urinary beta-aminoisobutyric acid excretion and concentration of lead in the blood of workers occupationally exposed to lead.
Urinary beta-aminoisobutyric acid (ABA) concentration was determined by fluorometric high performance liquid chromatography in 22 workers occupationally exposed to lead. The urinary excretion of ABA was increased with increasing exposure to lead. The excretion of urinary ABA had a significant correlation with concentration of lead in blood (Pb-B) (r = 0.581), similar to the correlation of Pb-B ...
متن کاملUrinary delta aminolaevulinic acid and porphobilinogen in lead-exposed workers.
Of 100 workers exposed to lead in varying degrees, 34 had a urinary delta amino-laevulinic acid (ALA) concentration of above 0-6 mg./100 ml. and a further 35 had an ALA concentration of between 0 3 mg. and 0-6 mg./100 ml. In only 20 of the workers was the urinary porphobilinogen concentration above 0-1 mg./100 ml., two of these being above 0-2 mg./100 ml. No significant correlation was found be...
